Viewpoint

To conform with all astrolabes made in earlier times, the view of the stars initially shown on this astrolabe is a left-to-right mirror image of the way they appear when we look at the stars from the earth's surface. This initial view is the one you would have if you looked down on the 'celestial sphere' from above - a 'heavens' view.

If you would prefer the astrolabe to show the stars as you are used to seeing them from the earth's surface - an 'earth' view - the easy way to change it is to click on the view+/- button.

You can also use the menu to select the viewpoint:

Menu: Astrolabe /Viewpoint /Heavens
Menu: Astrolabe /Viewpoint /Earth
